Alvina Lay is the Sales Manager of The Home Inspection Hub. Alvina has been with the company for several years and is our go-to-person for all Hub enquires. During our chat, we explore why inspection reports are essential, what the usual process is and additional recommendations from Alvina herself.

Tell us a little about yourself and your role at The Home Inspection Hub
I have a background in design and have been working in the building inspection industry for over 5 years. 
I am currently the Sales Manager for The Home Inspection Hub and a number of tasks I look after in my role include:

  • Preparing reports to track our sales results
  • Processing bookings and working with clients and inspectors
  • Implementing new processes to improve client and sales team needs
  • Creating graphic material used on our website and marketing material
  • Working with the Marketing team to engage audiences
  • Building our database to track key information

Why do you think inspection reports are essential?
Buying or building a home will most likely be the biggest investment you make in your life. Hence getting an inspection report is a small price to pay to give you that peace of mind and understanding of what you are purchasing or how your build is progressing.

In terms of buying an existing home, we can provide a thorough Pre-Purchase inspection report of the structural elements both inside and out, as well as the general condition of the property. This is information that can be potentially used to negotiate with the vendor.

When you are building a new home, we can provide you an inspection report at each of the main stages beginning from your Base inspection through to your Final inspection (PCI). We check the quality of workmanship and bring to your attention any defects or incomplete items.

What is the process? What do I need to do as the owner/purchaser when organising a building inspection?
Our process is quite simple, we need a handful of information to provide you a quote. If you can have the key information including the address and/or the build size when you phone our office, we will be able to get the ball rolling for you. You can also visit our online quote page on our website and submit and enquiry there. The booking itself can be processed quickly over the phone and we will then allocate it to one of our Inspectors. The Inspector will then coordinate a time with either the agent or site supervisor and they will notify you once it is all locked in. After the inspection is complete, the Inspector can provide you with a verbal summary and a report is prepared and emailed to you.

Hoping for positive things this year, we are working on expanding the areas we cover and there is always potential to introduce new service types.
